This was one of the first shows we ever watched. We loved the first four seasons, we flied through them. We fell hopelessly in love with Damon Salvatore. And we hoped Elena would too. But this show is one huge love triangle, so there goes that dream.

Well basically the title of this show says a lot about the actual plot. A young girl, Elena Gilbert, has just lost her parents and is ready to get back to school. There she meets a mysterious stranger who she immediatly connects with. Stefan Salvatore. He turns to be -spoiler alert- a vampire.

A whole new world opens up for Elena, she starts meeting more and more supernatural creatures, including Stefan's vampire brother Damon. Who is angry at the world. Even though she tries to deny it, they connect. When werewolfs start roaming Mystic Falls Elena's life is in danger.
Our favorite character is Klaus Mikaelson. He is an original vampire and the most dangerous one of them all. He has an extremely amazing connection with Caroline, which we really love. Unfortunately Klaus left the Vampire Diaries for the spin-off series The Originals. From this moment on everything went downhill with TVD. In our opinion at least. To be honest Klaus was one of our biggest reason to continue watching this show.

The writers only started focusing on the originals, since they had a whole new story to create there. You could notice the lack of attention given to TVD. Characters started behaving out of character, once amazing couples started losing their spark and the plot lacked creativity.
So we do advice you to watch TVD if you' re interested, just stop at the end of season four and save yourself some heartbreak and disappointment.
