Hello there Lovelies, today it is time for the second part of the influential books TAG. This means that it's my time (Iris) to talk to you about the books that had the most influences on my life! But I honesty think that every good book has some influences over you which you will not always notice because the things can be so little. For example in some of these books was the main character like a big sister to me and has taught me little things. Things that I will not immediately recognize as something that came from a book. But these books have really changed my point of view in some situations and have taught me things like a big sister would.
These are one of those 'big sister' books. It is the Dutch children book series Lena Lijstje by Francien Oomen. In this series the girl Lena is figuring out who she is and gets into hilarious situations. I loved this series when I was younger. Along with Lena, I was figuring out who I was and she taught me things about friends, dressing myself and being a girl. These books along with the 'Hoe overleef ik' series also by Francien Oomen were definetly the first series which I loved. If I look back at my favorite books from my childhood I will pick those two series. The two series were both my 'big sister series' and I have learned a lot from them while growing up.
During the same period of time in which I read Lena Lijstje and Hoe overleef ik, I read Geronimo Stilton books. The beauty and fun that these books gave me are indescribable. Along with the Stilton family I went on their journey trough this amazing world. With lovely drawings and even pages that have a special scent, the book opened up my imagination. I got to now new worlds trough this book like an under water world. This book does a great job at making it fun to read because of all the fun lettertypes. This book is an combo between reading a book and a comic, it was just a whole new experience for me and I loved it.
After the first three series came the 100% series by Niki Smit. These books are about girls following there dreams. This is also the thing that I learned from them. It showed me that if you go for what you want and do what you want, you will get there. It let me have dreams. 100% Mila was also the first thing introducing me to vintage clothing. I did not now what it was exactly at that time and that's why I looked it up, opening up my eyes to all of the fashion from the past. These series have definitely played a big role in the start of my passion for fashion.
Then a series that made an impression on me was The Clique series by Lisi Harrison. It was one of my first books originating from English. It was more grown up than the other series and they showed me the world of high school. I read this series while still being in primary school so it was quite a difference. But I loved the characters in these books and their fashion sense.
Then Divergent came along and opened me up into a whole new world of badass people and a dystopian world. To be honest before divergent I read a lot of cheesy books without that much action because I did not really like action at that time. But Divergent by Veronica Roth opened up my eyes to fantasy novels and from this book on I started liking young adult novels. The reason that I have Allegiant the third book in this series as photo is that I do not own it but I have just rented it multiple times in the library ;).
After Divergent came the Hunger Games by Suzanne. I got to know these series by watching the first movie. I watched it together with my friend but did not get the movie at all (partly trough watching it in very bad quality) but because of the fact that she said that it was really great and because the concept looked pretty cool to me I gave it a try. And I do not regret this at all. I love the series, it taught me to be brave and daring and it made me love young adult books even more.
These were the books that had the most influences over me until now. I just love the meaning that books can have and the fact that books can indirectly teach people things about life.
What was the book that had the most influences over you?
Lots of love,
Iris
